Of all the countries that I have travelled in, I felt safer in Russia than anywhere else. The Russian people are amazingly friendly and hospitable. We’ve even been given money now on two occasions by Russians. We’ve been given food and had several offers of accommodation. If you don’t drink vodka at home, you will soon start when you begin socialising with Russian people.
Our experience of the medical service has been excellent. Emergency doctors called arrived within 15 minutes and gave a quick diagnoses and injection. We were not charged.
Its easy to look like a local. The men wear Levi jeans, denim jackets, Reebok trainers and a USA baseball cap. The women wear miniskirts, shiny tights, lipstick and peroxide blonde hair.
